Trenton, Ontario

About Trenton,
Ontario

Nestled along the Bay of Quinte, Trenton is a large unincorporated community located in Central Ontario. Known for its large Canadian Forces Base, Trenton is also the starting point for the Trent-Severn Waterway which continues northwest towards Peterborough, eventually making its way to Port Severn on Georgian Bay.

Trenton has a rich history, with the first European settlers arriving in the area in 1780. From there the Village of Trenton was incorporated in 1853 and steadily grew due to the booming lumber industry. During WWI, Trenton was home to a large munitions plant that manufactured artillery, rifle and small arms ammunition. The facility was originally constructed in the 1915’s, however, a massive explosion levels the building three weeks before Armistice. Remnants of the plant can be seen in Trenton to this day.

RCAF Trenton was constructed in the area in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s and provided economic stability to the community during both the great depression and WWII. Presently the base is an important facility for the Royal Canadain Air Force’s transport and search and rescue operations. They are also the community’s largest employer.

In 1980, Trenton was officially incorporated as a city, however, in January of 1998 Trenton amalgamated with the Village of Frankford and Townships of Sidney and Murray, thus forming the Municipality of Quinte West. Residents of Trenton make up nearly half of the municipality’s population.

Today, Trenton is a flourishing community that offers an exceptional quality of life. Lovely homes, friendly neighbours, and beautiful settings along Lake Ontario are a few of the reasons residents fall in love with the city. At Renew Landscaping, we work hard to ensure your lawn and property is in the best shape possible, offering multiple services such as hardscaping, softscaping and deck construction.
